Accessible to only property owners and their guests, Dewees Island consists of only 150 home sites. In this way, over 95 percent of the island continues to remain in its natural state. In addition to taking measures to maintain the island’s land, stringent construction and design guidelines are also in place throughout the community. These guidelines, which include limiting the size of homes to no more than 5,000 square feet, are meant to minimize the impact on wildlife. All homes within the community are also elevated and offer views of either the Intracoastal Waterway, tidal creeks, lakes or the Atlantic Ocean.
